Police are investigating a shooting in Newtown and have announced a major drug seizure, the recovery of an illegal firearm and several criminal charges across St. Kitts.
A male Newtown resident was shot sometime between three and five o’clock on the morning of August 8. He sought treatment at the Joseph N. France General Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Police recovered items of evidential value from the scene.
In a separate operation, police, Coast Guard and Customs officers searched the vessel C-Elizabeth II after it arrived in St. Kitts on August 10. They reportedly found 12.515 pounds of cannabis and one kilogramme of cocaine. The captain and six crew members, who are nationals of Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago, were taken into custody to assist with investigations.
Meanwhile, Adonis Mitrel Concepcion of Central Street was charged with firearm and ammunition possession, malicious damage and escaping lawful custody. Police said a Glock 22 pistol loaded with eight rounds was recovered after a rental vehicle allegedly attempted to evade a checkpoint. Concepcion was apprehended, later escaped from the Sandy Point Police Station and was recaptured the following day.
In other matters, Keric Lewis was charged with wounding with intent, battery on police, resisting arrest, obstruction and escaping lawful custody. Azariah Humphrey was also charged with escaping custody.
Te’Jaunte Marsham and Deejay Marsham were separately charged with wounding with intent, while Kishma Reid was charged with using insulting language and failing to give her name. Theo Reid was charged with obstruction.
