Emmy Award-winning journalist and executive producer Jego Armstrong will deliver this year’s Prime Minister’s Independence Lecture.
Armstrong, a native of Newtown, Basseterre, has more than 20 years of experience in print, digital and broadcast media. He has worked with several major international news organizations, including the New York Daily News, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera America, VICE News and MS NOW, formerly MSNBC.
His career has included coverage of United States presidential elections, international conflicts, the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.
Organizers said Armstrong’s selection reflects the lecture series’ aim of promoting national dialogue and celebrating the accomplishments of nationals at home and abroad.
The lecture will take place on Tuesday, September 8 at 7 p.m. at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. The public is invited to attend.
