The People’s Action Movement is heading into a major leadership transition after Natasha Grey-Brookes resigned as Political Leader of the party.
The resignation takes effect on Friday, July 31, as PAM prepares to choose a new leader ahead of the next General Election.
The announcement was made Monday by the party’s National Executive, which described the move as a strategic decision following consultations and a review of PAM’s electoral strategy.
Grey-Brookes said stepping aside as Political Leader would allow her to devote greater attention to the party’s candidates and her own campaign to win the constituency of St. Christopher One.
She said the decision was intended to strengthen PAM’s campaign and improve its chances of forming the next government.
The National Executive praised Grey-Brookes for her service, commitment and leadership during what it described as challenging periods for the party.
PAM said she will remain an integral member of its campaign team and will continue contributing to policy development, supporter engagement and the party’s national election effort.
The party has now begun the process outlined in its constitution to elect a new Political Leader. That process is expected to be completed within the coming weeks.
No interim leader or potential successor was named in the statement.
Grey-Brookes and the National Executive are calling on PAM members and supporters to remain united as the party attempts to manage the leadership change while preparing for the upcoming election.
